Hello, I am Teacher Shin Kyung-min! I have long been very interested in Chinese characters and have been studying them continuously. With this passion for Chinese characters, I briefly worked as a translator in Japanese and obtained the JLPT N1. Furthermore, after that, I continued to work as a translator in Chinese and acquired the 'HSK Level 5' certificate, continuing to be active until recently. However, during these years of translation work, I always thought to myself: 'How can I turn the Chinese characters I love into a job I can do for half my life?' So, as a shift in perspective, I decided to quit my translation work and make a full-fledged entry into the education industry. Recently, after obtaining the Hanja Proficiency Certificate and Hanja Teacher Certificate hosted by the Korea Certification Association, I have been continuously researching "how to effectively teach Hanja to students." What you can expect from my classes is: <Hanja> 1. Rather than simple rote memorization, you will break down each character individually to grasp "the principles and stories behind how the character was created," and by learning these stories, you will naturally acquire the characters. 2. The characters acquired in this way will transfer into "long-term memory" rather than short-term memory, allowing you to remember them for half a lifetime. 3. The knowledge of Hanja learned from me will serve as a solid foundation for learning "Japanese and Chinese" in the future. In addition, <Japanese> Japanese-style Hanja is referred to as abbreviated characters or Shinjitai. By applying the 'story-based Hanja education' learned in my classes, you can learn Japanese Hanja using the same principles. Students who have sufficiently mastered Hiragana and Katakana can learn Japanese Hanja from the basics, enabling them to study the 2,136 commonly used Japanese Hanja and the characters frequently appearing in certification exams such as the JLPT. <Chinese, Taiwanese> Chinese-style Hanja is called Simplified Characters (Simplified), and Taiwanese-style Hanja is called Traditional Characters (Traditional), which closely matches the Hanja notation used in Korea. Here too, by utilizing the 'story-based Hanja education' from my classes, you can learn Chinese and Taiwanese-style Hanja easily. Based on this foundation, it will be of great help in learning Chinese and Taiwanese vocabulary used in everyday life and for certification exams such as the HSK and TOCFL. Lastly, I take pride in the fact that my passion for teaching and studying Hanja is second to none. Based on my experience studying and researching Hanja, I believe I can conduct truly fun Hanja classes for children. Learning Hanja while playing! If you are interested, I look forward to seeing you in my class!
