Netflix to Buy Warner Bros. in $83 Billion Deal to Create a Streaming Giant
Netflix has announced plans to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery’s studio and streaming business, in a deal that will send shock waves through Hollywood. The deal values the business at $82.7 billion, including debt. The acquisition is expected to close after Warner Bros. Discovery carves out its cable unit, which the companies expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026. That means there will be a separate public company controlling channels such as CNN, TNT and Discovery. Netflix is already the world’s largest paid streaming service, but bulking up with Warner Bros. Discovery assets would create a colossus with greater leverage over theater owners and entertainment-industry unions.

Students Are Flocking to New AI Majors.
Amazon, Google, Meta and Microsoft have poured billions of dollars into artificial intelligence. And this year, Google and Microsoft announced company efforts to train millions of students and adult workers on AI. Now interest in understanding, using and learning how to build AI technologies is soaring, and schools are racing to meet rising student and industry demand. Over the past two years, dozens of U.S. universities and colleges have announced new AI departments, majors, minors, courses, interdisciplinary concentrations and other programs. This semester, more than 3,000 students enrolled in a new college of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
