This is an interdisciplinary class that connects one chapter and one piece of art from Professor Susan Bauer's The Story of the World to develop historical knowledge, art appreciation, and English thinking skills together.

This is not a simple lecture-style class. It is a class where learners think and speak based on content they have already read.

Read 1 chapter at home or listen to the audiobook beforehand
2️⃣ Art appreciation & discussion (Output)
1 artwork or architectural work connected to the chapter
Think and discuss the historical background and meaning together
3️⃣ English speaking practice
Ask and answer questions in English with the teacher and classmates, naturally practicing speaking in English

🎨 The chapter to read before class will be announced in advance, and learners should come with a brief summary of information and impressions. You do not have to speak in English perfectly! What matters most is the willingness to express your thoughts and a participatory attitude.

안녕하세요 🙂 미국 메릴랜드와 뉴욕에서 자란 케엘오 입니다! 어릴 때부터 이야기를 좋아해 대학에서는 Art History (미술사 🎨)를 전공했고, 한국에서는 B 어학원, P 어학원 등에서 약 7년 이상 초등・중등 학생들을 대상으로 영어를 지도해왔습니다. 현재는 1:1 화상 수업으로 원서 읽기 수업을 진행 중이며, 학생 개개인의 발음, 끊어읽기, 억양 등을 세심하게 지도하여 자연스럽고 자신감 있게 영어로 말할 수 있도록 도와드리고 있습니다. 🗣️✨ 아이들이 영어를 통해 자신의 생각을 표현하고, 즐겁게 배워나갈 수 있도록 따뜻하고 꼼꼼하게 지도하겠습니다. 앞으로 자주 뵙겠습니다. 감사합니다! 😊 Hi! With each discussion, I encourage them not just to memorize facts, but to wonder: Why did the artist choose this moment? What story lies beneath the surface? Through these questions, students build not only their English skills, but also curiosity, critical thinking, and the courage to express themselves. I have a calm, warm energy (think deep forest green), but I’m not afraid to bring intensity to the room, asking tough questions that linger long after class ends.
