I am Koh Hyun-sook, also known as "Teacher Su," an expert in children's English education. I worked as a head teacher in a kindergarten starting in 1997. While running an English academy, I also majored in early childhood education in both Korea and Canada. Therefore, I possess a strong foundation in English teaching and a deep understanding of children's emotional characteristics. To fulfill my lifelong dream, I flew to Canada at the somewhat late age of 41. However, due to difficulties in immigration, I ended up transferring to a different university at the last minute. After graduating from my fourth university, I worked as a Lead Teacher in kindergartens and public schools. Observing Canadian children in an educational environment different from Korea, I developed another dream: "I want to implement this kind of education in my own country!" I have returned after eight years and am currently teaching English classes both in libraries and online. I am meeting children at the Samgaksan Children's Library in Seoul, the Haengsin Welfare Center in Goyang, the Gochon Library, and the Gunsan City Library. I conduct "hands-on" classes using storybooks, singing, and physical movement. I connect different books based on the children's interests and help them play with English in a fun way through songs, physical activities, art, and simple games. I feel incredibly happy when singing and reading with the children. Whether at the library or online, I teach with sincerity, making eye contact with the children. I understand their shyness and desire to speak, even if they are unable to, and I praise them generously for even the smallest attempts. When they meet me, the unfamiliar language of English becomes enjoyable and fun, and they gain confidence. I also teach parents how to "do it together" so that their child can find an English partner. At the end of my English storybook classes, I always provide parent education to offer support. I help them learn English not as a subject, but as a means of communication—a way to read, listen to, and express themselves in the world.
