"A career path is not just a job, but a way to shape the history of one's life." Hello. It has been 14 years since career education was introduced to middle and high schools in Korea. I am Kim Won-bae, a teacher who has been in charge of career education at a middle school for 14 years. I am a career education expert dedicated to helping adolescents discover their potential and design their own futures. For a long time, I have met students in the school setting and conducted career classes, career counseling, career reading, and self-understanding activities. Career education is not about advancing to higher education, but a process in which adolescents understand themselves and create the direction of their lives. I guide students by structuring my curriculum to help them concretize their own dreams and goals. Through lectures and writing, I convey the importance of career education to adolescents, parents, and teachers. I am also interested in and researching education that fosters career competencies and self-directedness suitable for a changing era. In particular, I deliver lectures that explain career planning, career reading, and future competency education—essential for children living in the age of artificial intelligence—in an easy and engaging way.
