Hello. Based on the PK curriculum, I read BRICS Non-Fiction with the children to learn about science, nature, and society in English. Our class is a time to explain unfamiliar words and concepts using familiar examples, and to find the evidence for answers within the text through shared questions. 👀 We then connect what we have understood with the vocabulary we have learned and try to talk about it in short English sentences. When students hesitate for a moment while choosing the right English word, I plan to give them time to organize their thoughts and go through the parts they find difficult together. This is so they can gradually build experience in reading on their own and expressing themselves, even if it is just one sentence! 💛 I have structured my class with the hope that children will feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their thoughts little by little, and building confidence in English.
