Hello. I am Teacher Alice, teaching the Non-Fiction class at Peony Kids Academia! 😀 I completed gifted education programs at Chungbuk Science High School and Cheongju National University of Education. After graduating from Conway Christian School in the U.S., I majored in Biology at the University of Central Arkansas. I participated in research in Virology and Cancer Cell Biology at the University of Arkansas Medical School (UAMS) and worked as a researcher after graduation. After returning to Korea, I currently work as a dedicated science instructor at Peony Kids. Based on the PK curriculum, I read BRICS Non-Fiction with the children to learn about science, nature, and society in English. Our class is a time to explain unfamiliar words and concepts using familiar examples, and to find the evidence for answers within the text through shared questions. 👀 We then connect what we have understood with the vocabulary we have learned and try to talk about it in short English sentences. When students hesitate for a moment while choosing the right English word, I plan to give them time to organize their thoughts and go through the parts they find difficult together. This is so they can gradually build experience in reading on their own and expressing themselves, even if it is just one sentence! 💛 I have structured my class with the hope that children will feel comfortable asking questions, sharing their thoughts little by little, and building confidence in English. I will listen attentively to your questions and stories, and I will be with you warmly and attentively. So, let's get together in class!
