I am currently working in the U.S. public education system as an elementary school homeroom teacher and a County Science Curriculum Coordinator. Additionally, at the global educational institution FAROEDU, I serve as the Director of the CCSS Curriculum, developing educational programs alongside a global faculty. Experiencing both the perspective of the student—who is the subject of learning—and the perspective of the teacher—who leads learning—has served as an important foundation in shaping my educational philosophy and teaching methods. U.S. elementary education places great importance on the process of students asking questions, exploring concepts, logically explaining their thoughts, and applying them to new situations, going beyond the mere acquisition of subject knowledge. For this type of learning to take place, it is crucial to design lessons based on clear learning objectives, fully understanding the students' developmental stages and learning levels, and ensuring that questions, inquiry activities, and assessments are organically interconnected. I conduct my classes based on these teaching and learning principles even when teaching Korean students. In particular, having experience working as an English teacher in Korea, I understand the linguistic difficulties and cultural differences students face when learning subject matter in English. Taking this into account, I carefully adjust the level of explanations and questions to suit each individual student's English proficiency and learning characteristics. I guide students so that a deep understanding of subject concepts leads to independent thinking and natural English expression. Above all, what I consider most important is the learning and growth of each and every student. I aim to create a classroom where children feel their thoughts are respected, where they are not afraid of making mistakes, and where they can cultivate the joy of learning and confidence through questioning and inquiry. We will devote our sincere efforts to the growth of each and every child, ensuring that they do not merely stop at learning knowledge, but instead understand what they have learned on their own and develop it into their own thoughts.
