This is Teacher Yeonju. It has already been 10 years since I began teaching children under the motto, "History to think, not history to memorize." I am making various efforts to transform history from a subject of rote memorization into one that fosters critical thinking skills. "Why do you think that?" "Then, why did the kings of that time do that?" I feel a sense of pride every moment watching children, who used to struggle with unfamiliar questions like these, gradually begin to logically articulate and write down their thoughts. I plan to continue teaching "Thinking History" so that children can develop critical thinking skills through history and become individuals with the insight to connect today with yesterday.
