"History is not about rote memorization, but about reading stories through historical sources." Hello. I am Teacher Choi, a specialist Korean history instructor who loves history. I have long taught students of a wide range of ages at Kyowon Kumon, from preschoolers to elementary, middle, high school, and adult members. Later, as a branch manager, I took charge of the training and management of junior Kumon instructors, dedicating myself to fostering the next generation. Additionally, I have received positive feedback from students and parents for conducting the "Korean History Special Lectures to Make History Fun" during every school break. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's degree in History Education at the Graduate School of Education, Sogang University, while dedicating myself to research in history education. 📌 Major Teaching Experience - Experience as a lecturer for Kumon Learning's Korean History special lectures and as a branch manager (training junior teachers). - Conducted numerous "Korean History That Makes History Fun" special lectures during every school break (high satisfaction among parents and students). - Designed lessons based on interpreting original texts of Epigraphs, Samguk Sagi, and Samguk Yusa, as well as cross-referencing them with Chinese historical texts. - Conducted interactive classes utilizing metaverse tools, such as ZEP, which were personally created. **Teaching Philosophy/Goals** My classes focus not on simply memorizing dates and events, but on having students read historical sources directly and interpret for themselves 'why' such events occurred. Through this process, students naturally develop historical thinking skills and interpretation abilities, rather than rote memorization. Furthermore, my goal is to instill interest in students who find history difficult or tiresome, and to help students who are interested in history approach deeper interpretations through primary sources. While I actively utilize AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude Code for creating teaching materials and interactive content, I believe that what ultimately moves children's hearts is the narrative and storytelling born from a teacher's own deep contemplation. Going forward, I will do my utmost to share the joy of history with the students of South Korea through authentic history based on historical records and stories tailored to their level!
