My top priority is making people think, "Computers are fun!" Hello. I'm Yuri, a computer instructor. Since 2007, I've been a computer instructor and manager of "Computer School Rise," which operates seven classrooms in Tochigi Prefecture. My total number of followers on social media has reached 150,000. I've helped approximately 2,000 people, from children to adults, with their learning. I usually teach Word, Excel, PowerPoint, typing, Canva, and AI. I myself am raising two children, one in elementary school and one in preschool. I believe that starting to learn computers in elementary school is never too early. Schools are increasingly using computers and tablets, and the Common University Entrance Examination includes a subject called "Information Technology." As AI becomes more commonplace, being able to use a computer independently will be a great asset for children. And the foundation of all of this is typing. When you can input text smoothly, researching, writing, and putting your thoughts into words becomes much easier. While voice input has emerged, most people still can't use it due to their work environment. Typing will likely never disappear from the world; it's a lifelong skill. There are typing certification exams that even elementary school students can take, and which can be included on their resumes in the future. In fact, at the school I work for, a 5th-grade student passed the highest level, "Special Grade," of the "Typing Skills Test" hosted by the renowned e-typing! Even a 5th grader can improve this much with consistent and correct practice. However, there's no need to think about difficult things from the start. Instead of racking your brain wondering, "Why does this happen?", let's focus on: "Computers are fun!" "I want to do more!" "I typed faster than yesterday!" We want students to experience these kinds of feelings a lot. Our goal is to create lessons where students can enjoy learning, like playing a game, and before they know it, they've acquired typing and computer skills. Even children who are new to computers are welcome. We'll observe each child's pace, celebrate their achievements together, and gradually build their confidence.
