단원 1: 개인 서술 글쓰기

이 단원은 개인 서술의 구조, 작은 순간들, 도입부, '보여주기' 기법, 전환어, 감각적 세부 사항, 대화, 결말의 종류, 수정, 편집 등을 다룹니다.

단원 2: 허구 서술 글쓰기 (창의적 글쓰기)

이 단원은 플롯 구조, 도입부, 노출, 설정, 등장인물, '보여주기' 기법, 갈등, 상승 행동, 전환어, 감각적 세부 사항, 장애물과 사건, 서스펜스, 클라이맥스, 하강 행동, 결말 등을 다룹니다.

단원 3: 정보 제공 에세이 글쓰기

이 단원은 정보 제공 에세이의 각 부분을 직접적이고 효과적으로 가르치기 위해 소개, 본문 문단, 결론의 세 가지 하위 단원으로 나뉘어 있으며, 주제 선택부터 마지막 생각이나 행동 촉구까지를 포함합니다.

단원 4: 의견 에세이 글쓰기

이 단원은 문단 구조, 주제 문장(의견), 전환어, 세 가지 본문 문단(지원하는 이유와 세부 사항 포함), 효과적인 결론 문단(마지막 생각이나 행동 촉구)을 목표로 하는 단계별 수업이 포함된 세 가지 하위 단원으로 구성됩니다.

In this self-paced course, students will move beyond paragraphs and into full essays—learning how to structure and express ideas clearly across multiple genres of writing.

This course is not just a collection of writing prompts. It offers explicit, skill-by-skill instruction to help students understand and master each kind of essay: personal narrative, fictional narrative, informational, and opinion writing. Each unit breaks down the writing process into manageable lessons that build logically from brainstorming and planning to drafting, revising, and polishing final pieces.

With every unit, students will:

Explore the unique features of each type of essay

Practice targeted skills with visuals, models, and guided activities

Build their confidence and fluency in writing multi-paragraph pieces

Unit 1: Personal Narrative Writing

This unit targets personal narrative structure, small moments, leads, show-don't tell, transitions, sensory details, dialogue, types of endings, revising, editing.

Unit 2: Fictional Narrative Writing (Creative)

This unit targets plot structure, leads, exposition, settings, characters, show-don't tell, conflict, rising action, transitions, sensory details, obstacles and events, suspense, the climax, falling action, and resolution.

Unit 3: Informational Essay Writing

This unit has three sub-units for the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion in order to teach each individual part of an informational essay in a direct and impactful way from choosing a topic to the final thought or call to action.

Unit 4: Opinion Essay Writing

This unit has three sub-units including step-by-step lessons to target paragraph structure, topic sentences (opinions), transitions, three body paragraphs with supporting reasons and details, and effective conclusion paragraphs with final thoughts or calls to action.
