I also tried to keep them focused by reminding them of important concepts while they were building structures, saying, "...(You absolutely have to listen to this!)" I wonder if they really absorbed it because they were so focused on the jelly, haha, since it is a slightly difficult concept. My 9-year-old son usually gets bored sitting still during classes, but he listened attentively throughout the entire lesson. Even after class ended, he stayed for quite a while trying to build a perfect pyramid. I hope his understanding of structures has improved. When I asked him after class, "What scientific knowledge do you think you learned?" he replied, "I learned that you can build structures using jelly," but he said he couldn't remember the scientific terms.
