Nice to meet you. I am Kim Mi-kyung (Teacher Miki), an instructor for the course ‘Diary Writing to Cultivate Life.’ I am also a mother who has consistently kept a diary for 24 years. For me, writing a diary is a form of healing and comfort. This is because I share my joys, sorrows, worries, and secrets with my diary first. It is because my diary quietly listens to my stories. It is because writing gives me the strength to live on again. Recently, I compiled the diaries I have written over the years and published a book titled <I Am a Diary-Writing Mom>. Also, while raising two children, I communicated through diaries for seven years by writing empathetic comments in their diaries. Diaries written together are precious treasures that cannot be exchanged for anything in the world. Even now, when I read my children's diaries from their childhood, waves of emotion wash over me. Diaries become a child's history. Why do we write diaries? In this fast-paced digital world, I hope that diary writing becomes a way to cultivate a child's life. I hope that diary writing becomes a happy time, rather than a forced assignment. In the ‘Diary Writing to Cultivate Life’ session with Kim Mi-kyung (Teacher Mickey), you will learn everything from practicing finding writing topics to various methods of diary writing. You will build your writing muscles through diary writing that becomes as natural as breathing or eating, seamlessly integrating into your daily life. I teach drawing on my own experience of communicating with my child through diary writing while raising them. I am also a professional board game instructor for elementary school after-school programs with 15 years of experience. I engage with students using teaching know-how honed over meeting countless children. It will be a time to write diaries and build memories while playing simple games together. Furthermore, my class will be helpful for parents who wish to communicate with their children through diaries.
