Hello ^o^ I am Teacher Song Ki-ok from Think Pencil, teaching 'Thorough Reading' and 'Proper Writing' ♡ In this era where AI surpassing human intelligence has emerged, what ability should we cultivate in children more urgently than the ability to get the correct answers? The ability to think for oneself, ask questions, and find answers is more important than the ability to score 100 points. Seeing the expansion of essay-type assessments in school exams and university entrance exams becoming a public topic of discussion, I realize anew just how essential and important what I teach children is. I aim to help children develop the power to think for themselves through books and to express those thoughts clearly through writing. By firmly establishing the foundations of reading and writing and through experiences of questioning and discussion, we will build a language foundation together that will remain unshaken no matter what studies they pursue in the future. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From private tutoring and small-group elite classes to libraries, youth centers, and large-scale classes in school classrooms and auditoriums!! My classes have even been featured in materials published by the Office of Education and in local daily newspapers. I will generously share my experience and know-how, having mastered everything from one-on-one lessons to large-scale classes of over 200 students, with our students! [Key Qualifications] I have studied counseling, psychology, and career guidance alongside reading and writing instruction. - Based on my Level 1 Counseling Psychology Instructor certification, I understand children's emotions and minds and reflect them in my lessons. - Through my Level 2 Career Counselor certification, I naturally connect books and writing with children's career paths and aptitudes. - I have gained experience in play and critical thinking education through my Level 1 Math GABE Instructor and Level 2 Froebel Creative GABE Instructor certifications. - I have consistently conducted classes utilizing reading, newspapers, and discussion through my certifications as a Thinking Pencil Reading & Writing Instructor, N.I.E. Instructor, and Level 1 Toronto Instructor. - With my Level 2 Graphic Organizer certification, I also teach children how to visually organize their thoughts. - Authored books on reading and essay writing, and has conducted lectures on reading and writing at local libraries and schools. - Researched various reading materials through reading education support activities commissioned by the Office of Education and the production of picture books, historical fairy tales, and newspaper materials. [Target Audience and Structure] I conduct reading, reading, and writing activities with elementary school students. Classes are structured in stages according to age and grade level. - Ages 7 to 2nd Grade Classes focus on proper reading, comprehension, parsing, and reading aloud. Students build a solid foundation in reading and writing through pronunciation practice, parsing sentences, and practicing writing basic sentence structures. - 3rd and 4th Grade The course begins with reading methods that teach "how to read properly." Students practice writing in various genres—such as letters, argumentative essays, diaries, editorials, interviews, and book reviews—step-by-step from the basics, helping them understand both the form and purpose of writing. [Small Group Class Method] My classes are conducted in small, elite groups. Therefore, I adjust the lesson to suit the level and pace of each individual student. - I provide immediate feedback on writing done during class to offer specific guidance on sentence structure. - I meticulously edit homework assignments, clearly identifying strengths and weaknesses. - I explain why sentence structures are incorrect and guide students on how to correct them, using examples. - I conduct classes with a structure that allows for natural question-and-answer exchanges, creating an atmosphere where students can ask questions at any time. Since many of my students reside overseas, I take into account time zones and language differences in my explanations and conduct the lessons with consideration to ensure they feel emotionally secure. [Changes Children Experience] Through my classes, children experience simultaneous changes in their reading and writing skills. - Even children who used to dislike books develop an interest in them as they find enjoyment through quizzes, presentations, and discussions. - By repeating the process of reading and writing as homework, we help students form the habit of independently selecting books and reading them to the end. - Children with inaccurate pronunciation or difficulty pausing learn reading rhythm through the practice of reading aloud and pausing. - Through activities such as presenting and answering quizzes during class, students gain confidence in speaking and cultivate a more active attitude of participation. - Book quizzes are designed to require careful reading to answer, naturally fostering the habit of "intensive reading." - We broaden students' expressive abilities and scope of thinking through various writing assignments, including letters, argumentative essays, diaries, editorials, interviews, and book reviews. - Through repeated experiences of correction and explanation, students internalize accurate sentence writing and are helped to develop a learning attitude that is not afraid of asking questions.
